People cross into the U.S. through gap in the border wall in Yuma
Two unaccompanied minors, aged 6 and 9-years old, wait to be transported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers to a processing center after crossing into the United States from Mexico through a gap in the border wall on Saturday, April 16, in Yuma, Ariz. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it would terminate Title 42 on May 23, ending the two-year-long policy that has allowed the summary expulsion of nearly 2 million migrants. Since the onset of the COVID pandemic in the US in March 2020, border officials have used Title 42 to immediately expel migrants who attempt to enter the country â without allowing them a chance to claim asylum.
